I have been reading the 4-Hour Work Week today… on a saturday afternoon here in Singapore.

In chapter 3 of the book, i come across an interesting quote which i would like to share with you.

Here’s it goes:

‘There’s no difference between a pessimist who says, “Oh, it’s hopeless, so don’t bother doing anything.” and an optimist who says, “Don’t bother doing anything, it’s going to trun out fine anyway.  Either way, nothing happens.’

Whow…  how true!

Most of the time, people is not successful yet not because they lack the talent, the knowledge or the right attitude to succeed.  It’s the lack of action that make them a failure.

Nothing will ever happen if we do not take any action in the direction of the goals that we want to achieve in our life.

Action is better than in-action.  Even though the action that we take may not bring us to our desire outcome in life, we can at least learn from the result of the action and tweat and adjust our next action step so that we can eventually achieve the outcome that we want.

Hmm….. as i see it, action or inaction is just the two deciding factors that will determine our future.

As Nike says ‘Just DO It!’.  If you are still reading now, do get your butt out of the chair and just do it…. do whatever you need to do to shape your future.

I have just finished reading the condensed version of his 12 months Millionaire, ‘How I Made $77 Million in 2 Years’.

And i have made a purchase of his printed book ‘12 Months Millionaire’, ‘The audio recording of his closed door seminar for only 109 qualify people’ and his ‘Billion Dollars Ad Collection’.

Prior to that, i have done a google search for Vincent James and have realized that many marketers are leveraging on his name to sell products and services.  I have also read from a blog site of a guy call Thomas Gates who criticize Vincent James and call him a scammer.  You can read it at www.12-month-millionaire-scam.blogspot.com.

What is my opinion on this?

Hmmm….. after reading his book, i realize that Vince is really a true blue direct response marketer.  And i can sense that he is outright honest and straight to the point type of person.

Yes, he could have make some mistakes in the course of making his millions like charging his clients account even after they terminate the orders. 

Come on, give this man a benefit of doubt.

Could it be that there are some mess up at the fulfilling house or his billing system that cause this problem?  Looking at the massive size of his business transaction and the numbers of buying customers every month, it is impossible to make any mistake.

However, i am not in the position to judge whether he is right or wrong.   Vincent could have done it purposely and it could just be some mistake of his system that he is not even aware of.

I have know of people who are not directed to the download page of a product that they have purchase online because the online payment system malfunction.  Mistake does happen, sometime…

Anyway, i know that i can learn a lot of  real life direct response marketing tricks and gimmicks from him. 

How do i know?

I am a direct response marketer myself and what i read in Vincent James book resonates with me.

 And mind you, i can see that he is no ordinary direct response marketer.  He has done a lot of testing and tweaking of his ads to make it work and his marketing experience is undeniable valuable.

I respect him for his marketing prowess.  As for his character and business ethics, i am in no position to comment as i do not really know him and have i ever seen him in action.

One of the amazing thing i learn from Vincent is that he use the introduction of his book as the content for the sales letter of his book!

Whow! Talk about leverage, this guy really know that.

And he has the uncanny ability to write sales letter that get you suck in and want to buy his stuff.  Here is one of an extract from his sales letter or his introduction (whichever one you read…)

‘Seriously - I envy you.  I wish I could experience again what you’re about to learn… but of course i can’t.  So i have to settle for the joy of watching the light bulbs go off in the thousands of people’s minds who read this book’

In this one simple sentence, it has already triggers many psychological emotion in his readers.

1) The ned to feel advantaged.  You will feel that you are in a unique position to take advantage of his many years of direct response marketing experience, such that you can rip him off of his years of hard work.  You feel priviledged.

2) The fear of losing out.  You want to be part of the thousand who read the book and so that you will not lose out on tapping to his marketing genius in a single read.

3)  The need to feel important.  Vincent James envies you for reading the sales letter as you are about to short cut your success in your business and make the millions of dollars that you have always dream of.

Ha…. i have learned more from him in just one single read of his   ‘How I Made $77 Million in 2 Years’.

If you ask me if he is a guy worth learning from in term of marketing, i would have give you a resounding yes.

However, if you was to ask me if he is a guy worth learing from in term of character and integrity, i can only tell you that i am in no position to comment.

In the fundamental of any REAL business, it is the matching of the market to a solution of their problem via a medium.  The medium can be a physical shops, a online websites, mail order, telesales etc etc

The key to successfully matching the solution to the market is ‘marketing’.  With the right marketing, you can possible make ton and ton of money.

The key to right marketing is ‘impact communication’.   In any successful businesses, you will realized that they have effective communication channel to their marketplace.

To facilitate effective communication, you need to engineer your belief system and the belief system of your marketplace. 

You need to instill a strong beliefs in your marketplace that you are the guy or the company that they can trust and  that they can discover their desired experience from you or your company every time they buy from you.  ( people buy an experience, not just product and service)

In order to instill a strong belief to your market, you or your staffs must have the right belief that you desire to see in your market palace.  

Believe is infectious.  If you do not believe that your solution and product is the BEST for your customers, they can sense it and believe what you believe.

As you can see, the greatest obstacle to successful marketing is not found in any system, your market place or any external entities. 

The greatest obstacle to GREAT marketing is found inside you and your company.Stop looking outside for a solution if your business is suffering.   Look inside and clean up the belief system internally and you can see your sales skyrocket in no time.

Without a shadow of doubt, we know that woman are BIG time buyers.

If you visit the mall, you will probably realized that most of the goods are targeted for woman.

Woman probably control 80% of the market and the other 20% is also indirectly control by woman.

Isn’t it true?

 Who is in control of Warren Buffett or Bill Gates finances?  Probably their wives!

So if we can learn how to market to woman, we can not only sell to woman, we can sell to man as well.

In order to market to woman, we need to study and understand the psychology behind a woman.

What make them tick and get them to buy?

Well, i am fortunate enough to meet up with Donna Fox at the SMART seminar.  Not only do i have a chance to meet up with her, i have the priviledge to have lunch together with her too!  And guess what she is feasting?  She actually wallop up a bowl of spicy Laksa ( a local hot and spicy noodle ). 

Amazing….

What MORE amazing is when she share with me how to market to woman.  By the way, if you do not know Donna Fox, she is an internet marketer marketing soley to woman.  There is nobody more qualify than her when it come to woman’s market.

Here’s is how the conversation go…

 ME:  Donna, as i am not a woman and i hope you can see that ( to the laughter of Donna and everyone around…), i want to know what is the psychology behind a woman?  What make her tick?

Donna:  Well… woman primarily are motivated by two emotional triggers.  They want MORE love and LESS stress.

ME:  Hmmm…. that’s make sense.  From my experience with interacting with woman, i tend do agree with you.  And one more thing… what is the differentiating factor in a buying decision between a woman and a man?

Donna:  Good question.  Man and woman are similiar in that they are looking for solution to their problem.  However, the difference is that man will settle with any solution to their problem (as long as it is a solution), while woman wanted more than a solution to their problem.  Woman want a PERFECT solution to their problem.

Me:  Oh… that make sense.  I know that woman are more detailed oriented than man.  As such, it does make sense that they want a PERFECT solution, instead of JUST a solution to their problem.

 The conversation goes on and we shift to other non internet marketing related topics.

Ha… it seen like there are a HUGH market out there selling to woman but it is also a market where we need to be more delicated in our product and service offering ( as we now know that woman want more than a solution….)

I have a chat with Mike Morgan today at the SMART seminar in Singapore.

We talked about his stay in Singapore and the delicious food here.  Mike has fall in love with Singapore.  He as tried durian and pepper crab and is loving it.  Mike even told me that he may be back in Singapore mid next year, together with his family.

Well.. in the conversation, Mike has revealed to me one of his secret to crafting out high converting sales letter.

It is about creating an offer that your readers cannot refuse not to buy from you.

Here is his definition of an offer.

‘An offer is the sum total of everythign you are presenting to your prospect.

Indeed, Mike shared with me that he work on the offer first before anything when writing his copy.  As you probably already know, most copywriters work on the headline first, not Mike.

His copywriting philosophy is also supported by the late Gary Halbert.  Here is what he has said before “Strong copy will not overcome a weak offer… but ….. in many cases, a strong offer will succeed in spite of weak copy written by marketing morons!’ — Gary Halbert

 Got it?  The success or failure of your sales copy lie in the offer.

Many are drawn into internet marketing and forex trading recently.   This is especially so when the economy outlook is gloomy and people are uncertain about their job.

Do you know why?

Let me share with you my five-cent worth of opinion on why are this the growing trend.

Firstly, people are conscious now that there are no security in their job anymore.  The right slogon for this gloomy time is ‘Job today, gone tomorrow’.

Secondly, people want to find a ‘backup’ source of income just in case they lost their jobs.

And finally,  they want a ‘backup’ secondary income that is easy and convenient and should preferably be able to conduct at the comfort of their home.  Most importantly, it should not exposed them to direct selling (interaction with people in person).

As you can see, there are a growing need now for education on how to make money on the internet, whether by marketing or forex and equity trading. 

What do this translate to?

Can you smell money?

 Yes, in this gloomy time, the money is flowing to the ‘Make Money From The Internet’ education industry.

Suddenly, everyone starts to be some sort of forex trading or internet marketing experts, offering you expensive courses on how to make make money from the internet.

Well.. the thing is, do not believe them.  Check out their credential, track record and how well they can support you in your wealth creation journey.

For example, if they are offering internet marketing course, you need to find out how much they have make in their marketing.  If they do not want to show you their earning result, they are most likely not the true blue marketer that you should spent your money to learn from.

Let face it.  If you are to invest in the share of a listed company, you will want to check out the income statement of the company. What if they refuse to show you their earning and insist that you invest in them?  Will you do so?

Most probably not, right?

Make your decision correctly and do not waste your money in learning from the false gurus who can only offer you the ‘Guru Dream’ and CAN NEVER make you rich for they are not rich themselves.  

Learn from the true Guru, someone who has walked the path and have achieved the result that you wish to achieve. 

I would like to share with you a sneaky little trick to implant an opinion that you want to have your prospect adopt.

So sneaky is this trick that your prospect will not realize that he/she is adopting your opinion.

How?

Well… let use an example to illustrate the trick.

Let say you want to your prospect to form an opinion that the economy is bad and his/her job is at stake.  There are no job security now.

How will you do that?  Just take a moment of your time to think about it…

Well….

You got the answer?

 This is what i would do.  I would compliment the prospect!

Yes, i would tell him/her this ‘Whow.. you still have a job in the current turbulence time?  You must be doing great at your job.’

By doing so, you are encouraging him to ’small talk’ to himself that the economy is indeed bad and he may be having a job now but it may have gone tomorrow.

By getting your prospect to form his own opinion, he has made a conclusion for himself and form a personal opinion that he will hold so dearly that even when you try to proof him wrong later on, it will prove fatile.

This is another pyschology trigger coin as cognitive dissonance.
