To dominate any market, you work toward cooperating with your competitors or your customers to create a cartel that ruled like the roman empire of the past. How do you do that?

Answer #1: You can simply organize and work together with your competitors to cross promote each other products or joint create new revolutionary product to serve the market. You form a cartel in the market comprising some of your competitors to dominate your market. As the saying go: “It is better to profit a small share of a growing cartel, then to own a whole company who is struggling to profit from the marketplace.”

Answer #2: You convert every of your customer to be your trade partner and set up a system to help him to make money. As they make money, they will become your most faithful customer and cooperate with you to grow your business further.

This are powerful stuff. Use it to grow your business. :-)

How Your Business Can Survive In A Recession?


Recession is here to stay… for at least another one or two years at least.

It is not going to be a ‘V’ shape recession but a ‘L’ shape one.  

Huh? Why am i so pessimistic?  No i am not.

If given a choice, i would love to be optimistic about it.  However, the way the US solve their problem is simply printing more money from selling treasury bills to bailout bad companies that should have file chapter 11.

In so doing, the whole US economy is inflated at a phenomenal rate and yet still in bad shape.  This is what we call Stagflation.  Soon, another dollar crisis is in the pipeline and things are not looking too good.

One this happen, the Stock and property market will tank in the US.  The rest of the world will suffer with it as US is the main trading partner for them.

When will the second wave of crisis come?  Nothing know.  Only God know and he ain’t telling you and me.

In time like this, we can only do our utmost to protect and groom our business for the next wave.

Here are some  thing we can do now.

1)  Reduce operational expense.  We can do so by negotiating cheaper insurance, mortgage payment.  If need to, we can close down operating branches that do not generate good profit for our business.   If the financial pinch is too huge, we should even retrench unproductive staffs.

2)  Flush out our inventories quickly by reducing the cost or through smart marketing.  The more cash we are holding, the better we are in a time like this.

3)  Extend your credit limit from the banks to your business as far as you can.  In time like this, you need more bank credit to do more with less.

4)  Change your marketing plan to adapt to the recession so that you can squeeze in more profit to your business with less advertising dollar.  As an example, you can use this opportunity to get rid of 80% of your bad customers and focus on your 20% of your best customers.  By freeing your business resources the burden on attending to the 80% of your bad customers which contribute to only 20% of your overall business profit, you can then focus on growing your 20% of your good customers base which give your business the 80% of the profit.

5)  Reduce the period of credit extension to your customers.  You can do so by giving your best customers a 5% discount on your inventories and services so as to motivate them to pay earlier.  The earlier you collect cash in your cash register, the better you can use it to grow your business in other area like advertising and buying property and tools at a discount.

6)  Maximize your advertising cost by utilizing the internet for cheap and effective marketing.  In a recession, many of your clients will be buying stuffs from the web as it is cheaper that way.   Flow with what your customers and prospects are moving and you can’t be wrong.

7) This is also a good time to expand your market share by increasing your advertising dollar from the saving and cash that you receive from point 1 to 6.  In a recessionary time, where advertising cost goes down, it is your best opportunity to really squeeze that advertising dollars to expand your business and take away the cakes from your competitors.

As mentioned in point 7, it is not all gloom and doom for your business in a recession.  Do the right thing right and your business will not only survive the recession but emerge from it stronger and more profitable than ever before.

Marketing To Woman


Without a shadow of doubt, we know that woman are BIG time buyers.

If you visit the mall, you will probably realized that most of the goods are targeted for woman.

Woman probably control 80% of the market and the other 20% is also indirectly control by woman.

Isn’t it true?

 Who is in control of Warren Buffett or Bill Gates finances?  Probably their wives!

So if we can learn how to market to woman, we can not only sell to woman, we can sell to man as well.

In order to market to woman, we need to study and understand the psychology behind a woman.

What make them tick and get them to buy?

Well, i am fortunate enough to meet up with Donna Fox at the SMART seminar.  Not only do i have a chance to meet up with her, i have the priviledge to have lunch together with her too!  And guess what she is feasting?  She actually wallop up a bowl of spicy Laksa ( a local hot and spicy noodle ). 

Amazing….

What MORE amazing is when she share with me how to market to woman.  By the way, if you do not know Donna Fox, she is an internet marketer marketing soley to woman.  There is nobody more qualify than her when it come to woman’s market.

Here’s is how the conversation go…

 ME:  Donna, as i am not a woman and i hope you can see that ( to the laughter of Donna and everyone around…), i want to know what is the psychology behind a woman?  What make her tick?

Donna:  Well… woman primarily are motivated by two emotional triggers.  They want MORE love and LESS stress.

ME:  Hmmm…. that’s make sense.  From my experience with interacting with woman, i tend do agree with you.  And one more thing… what is the differentiating factor in a buying decision between a woman and a man?

Donna:  Good question.  Man and woman are similiar in that they are looking for solution to their problem.  However, the difference is that man will settle with any solution to their problem (as long as it is a solution), while woman wanted more than a solution to their problem.  Woman want a PERFECT solution to their problem.

Me:  Oh… that make sense.  I know that woman are more detailed oriented than man.  As such, it does make sense that they want a PERFECT solution, instead of JUST a solution to their problem.

 The conversation goes on and we shift to other non internet marketing related topics.

Ha… it seen like there are a HUGH market out there selling to woman but it is also a market where we need to be more delicated in our product and service offering ( as we now know that woman want more than a solution….)

Frank Kern Promoting StomperNet With A Psychological Twist


Mass Control Syndicate founder Frank Kern is deploying his psychological trick once again. 

In the last two days, almost every marketers or gurus out there are promoting Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon’s Stompernet ( Stomping the search engines 2).  Gurus like John Reese, John Carlton, Michal Cheney, Rich Schefren etc… but Frank Kern promotional email caught my attention.

Why?

 The subject of the email goes like this “Why I said NO to the StomperNet promotion”

May i ask you a question? 

Do you feel intrigue to read the email body to find out why Frank does not want to promote Stompernet while all other gurus or mini-gurus are out there singing priases to Stompernet?

If you answer is yes, then we can contiue… else this blog post is not for you. (another psychological trick here: if i ‘take it away’ from you by asking you not to read this blog post, the more you WANT to read.  Isn’t it?)

Frank Kern is deploying a psychological trick on our mind.  He know that the conscious mind cannot be told what not to do but can only listen to what the subconscious mind said.

In this case, as you read the subject, you conscious mind cannot process the embedded ’NO’ message and will automatically look into the Stompernet promotion.

Additionally, it gives you a sense of suspense as you want to know why Frank does not want to promote this product.  It’s like reading a story book, Frank is teasing you into reading the Stompernet promotion.

Then inside the body of the email, Frank is brutally honest as he revealed to you that he is busy with the kids and have no time to review the product just yet but concluded that it must be good, base on past experiences of purchasing or reviewing Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon other products.

By doing so, he has disarm your unconscious mind from being defensive and suspicion to interest and enthusiam.

How cool can that be if you can understand human psychology and just like Frank Kern, use it to your selling advantage.

For me, i think that as long as you are providing good values to your customers, then it is alright to do so as you are selling them a product/service that allow them to achieve their dreams faster and easier.

Instant Money Switch


I have received an email from Jo Han Mok on the 8/8/2008 with an uniquely oriental oriented flavour.

Inside the email, he invited me to play a jackpot game online to win $888, credited NOT to my bank account but to a new product that he is promoting.

 The product is JD Hamilton’s Instant Money Switch.

In the webpge, JD Hamilton promised to teach you how to make REAL money online as easy as flipping a switch.

A few days later, Jo Han sent out another email with the subject line “My heart really *stop*….”

Why?

Well, in this email, Jo Han revealed to us that JD’s webmaster erroneously included the actual download link to an exclusive Resales License offer on the very webpage itself, so people could have download for free!

Whow! Amazing.

 There could be two possiblilities here. 

One.  What he said in the second email is honest and genuine truth.

Two.  He is setting up a ‘marketing trap’ for other to download the product and put it up for sales before releasing this email to apologise for the mistake and warn anyone who have not *officially* buy the product not to put it up for sales or they could possibly received a lawyer letter from JD Hamilton.

Since those who has downloaded the Instant Money Switch illegally could have put up the product for sales at this point, most ( if not all) will generally make the purchase of the Resales Right of the ‘Instant Money Switch’ as they do not want to *waste* their effort of putting it up in the first place.

Hmm…. if possiblility two is the intention, then this is one of the most brilliant marketing gimmick i have ever seen on the Internet.  It plays on the pschology of man that “Poeple do not like to tear down thing when they have put in sufficient effort to set them up”

So could be it possibility one or two?

Nobody will know.  We can only guess.  Only Jo Han Mok will know….

But, having know Jo Han, i honestly believe that this is a genuine mistake.  Nonetheless, out of this mistake, i have discovered a sneaky little marketing trick that could increase our sales…..
