Microsoft Offers To Buy Yahoo For $44.6 Billion
If this deal come true tonight, then will Microsoft replace Google as THE number one search engine on the Internet?
In my opinion, it is a ‘NO’, not in the near future. But eventually it is a ‘YES’.
Yahoo and MSN search engine combined will not dethrone Google position as THE number one search engine on the Internet.
Here’s my reason:
Google has the most powerful search algorithm for information search. Yahoo and MSN search is still lacking behind Google in searching functionality. It may take more than one year or more before Microsoft and Yahoo can work out a more fantastic search engine than Google.
Well, let’s hope the deal go through… at least, this will help to boost up the gloomy market for a little while. Overall, i think that a recession in the US is inevitable. It may happen few months down the road or a year or so.. let’s see.
As a trader, i would buy a option straddle on MSFT or Microsoft stock. If the deal goes through, i win. However, if the deal does not go through, i’ll also win.
As internet marketer, i would like to see how Microsoft strategized to take away the advertising pies of Google on the internet. They did it for Network operating system, for office productivity software. Can Microsoft do it again with Internet search engine and advertising?
Whoever offer us the most flexible pay advertising on the internet and most importantly, whoever attract massive search traffic on the Internet will win the war.
My gut feel is that eventually, Microsoft will win the game but it may take one or more years for this to take place. Let’s see…
