Viral Marketing 101

Well.. i know, viral marketing is an hot topics on the internet.

 Every marketer want their marketing campaign to go viral.

Traditionally, it is call words of mouth marketing.

Basically, the concept is the same.  It involves getting your customers to talk and spread the news of your product to their friends.

If you do the maths, you will be amazed by what viral marketing can do for you…

One of customer buy from you and spread the words around and get another ten of his friends to buy from you. 

Now his ten friends becomes your customers and each of them spread the words and get another 10 friends to buy from you.  At this level, you have 10 x 10 = 100 customers.

Let summarized.  You started of with just one customer at the first level. Atthe second level, you have ten customers as ar result of the introduction from your first customers.

Now, at the third level, you have one hundred customers as a result of the introduction from your ten customers from the second level. 

The viral effect will start to multiplied exponentially and if done correctly, you can have the most profitable business with zero or near to zero marketing cost.

At this point, you may ask: “Realistically, is this possible?”

Well, it is possible if IT IS DONE CORRECTLY.

Understand this.  Whether  you do viral marketing online or offline, in order for the viral to take effect, gain momentum and follow through the momentum, you need to have people spreading the words around.

That’s where human pschology come into play.  Here’s the fact:

People are dying for something noteworthy to talk about.  Life can be dull and if you provide someone with a level of excitment or an interesting story, people will in fact talk about it to their friends.

Either your product or your marketing messages must generate the excitement in your customer for viral marketing to take off.

Once it is rolling, there’s no stopping it.  It’s the law of viral inertia.  Once viral is in motion, it will continue to be in motion indefinately.
